Inter Milan’s form has been done so drastically in the last few weeks

Inter Milan’s form has been done so drastically in the last few weeks that the club now appear to be out of contention for the league title.

They have managed just one victory in the last five league matches. It has allowed the table leaders Juventus to open a 12 point advantage over Inter, but the club are not ready to give up on the season just yet according to manager Roberto Mancini. After spending significant sums of money in the summer, Mancini is now expected to get results at the San Siro. The club can no longer afford to remain out of the Champions League for long.

It has been a good few years since they were last seen in the Premier European competition. Apart from losing ground on table leaders Juventus, there is also a danger of the Italian outfit conceding more ground on the likes of Fiorentina and Roma, who are only a few points ahead. Fiorentina occupy the final Champions League qualification spot and four points ahead of Inter. Even a return to the European competition will be seen as a step in the right direction. Mancini was speaking after the club’s 2-1 loss against Fiorentina. This was the sixth defeat of the campaign for the Milan outfit.

“Building a winning team takes time. I believe that Inter are behind [the other clubs] when it comes to building a team, so time is needed. We have to go through some difficulties. Everything was going smoothly until December, but difficulties can arise during the season. We must be strong in order to get back up and not give up.Now we must continue to work. We need the support of the fans, even though it’s normal for them to be upset or disappointed when we lose,” said Mancini.
