Inter Milan secured a third consecutive victory

Inter Milan secured a third consecutive victory in the league after managing to overcome Torino.

The 1-0 success means that Roberto Mancini’s team remained level on points with Fiorentina and one point ahead of Roma. Despite the strong position, the Italian claims that Inter Milan are not the favourites for the league title this season. Instead, he has placed the onus on rivals like Roma and Fiorentina. The wait for a league title stretches back to five years for Inter Milan, but it is significantly longer for Roma. Francesco Totti and his teammates have been waiting for a league title since 2001.

The lack of Juventus in the title race this season has opened the door towards a new team becoming the champions for the first time since the domination from Juventus began in the 2011-12 season. Summer signing Kondogbia scored the only goal of the game against Torino just after the half-hour mark to give his team all three points. This positive result means that Inter are undefeated in the last seven of all competitions. One has to go back to the end of September to see the last time Inter suffered a defeat. This mentality is likely to help the team towards the end of the campaign when results matter the most.

“In the first half we did very well, in the second half we dropped deep early and tried to see the game out. But then we had the chances to make it 2-0 on the counter and we should have taken them.We are a team that is growing however some may forgot we have not played together for long. I think the other teams have more of a chance of winning Serie A than us. We need a little more time than them. But being there in front means we must be doing something right,” said Mancini.
